The villa sits on a hillside just five hundred metres from the tiny village of San Quirico de Moriano, overlooking the mountains and the town of Lucca. Sleeping up to ten in splendid accommodation, the owners have ensured this very historic and private property is also a fabulous holiday villa with lovely gardens and a large swimming pool.
The Villa has been the home of the Raffaelli family for more than five generations and is furnished to a high standard, with many family antiques. Local Area
The medieval city of Lucca is a perfect little walled town unspoiled by tourism, with marble-paved streets, beautiful churches, an incredible market and the most delicious cafes and stalls selling pizza and polenta. Amongst many fiestas, celebrations and cultural events, on the third weekend of every month there is an expansive, outdoor antiques market centred around Piazza San Giusto. Everything about this charming small city delights the visitor. One of the great attractions is to walk along the top of the Renaissance-era walls which completely surround the city.
The surrounding countryside is exceptionally beautiful and quite different from other parts of Tuscany. Spectacular mountains, deep river valleys and intensely rich forest areas.
In winter there is snow skiing in the mountains to the north, only about thirty minutes drive away, and the villa is just twenty kilometres from the beach resort of Viareggio and the Mediterranean coast and thirty kilometres from the renowned beachside glamour of Forte Dei Marmi.
This is a perfect location for day trips to the fabulous city of Florence and other nearby places of interest like Barga, Castelnuovo and Bagni di Lucca.
