This wonderfully spacious two bedroom holiday villa sleeping up to four people is ideal both for couples or families with children. Finca de La Fuente is located just below the hilltop village of Gaucin, one of the Pueblos Blancos of Andalucia in Southern Spain. Absolutely delightful family home, full of rustic charm with stunning views in a superb location and a splendid, large private pool.
This holiday property has been built in traditional Andalucian style, nestling amongst olives, almonds and carobs on four acres of rugged hillside in Andalucia. Finca de La Fuente is a lovely comfortable home, wonderfully spacious, yet with an intimate feel.
It is only a kilometre from the village of Gaucin, and its sheltered location combines peace and privacy with stunning views to the distant mountains of North Africa.
The property is perfect for lazy summer days, relaxing by the pool, either under an olive or carob tree, snoozing in a hammock or sunbathing. The shaded terrace has plenty of space for al fresco dining, the barbecue and some deckchairs. The cooler months can be spent equally pleasurably in good weather, then also surrounded by fields full of flowers, orchids, birdsong and in plenty of home comforts with its cosy wood burning stove and central heating throughout.
Accommodation Details
Finca de la Fuente has a rustic and cosy feel. The centre of the house is the large open plan living/dining room with a log burning Nordic stove (with glass doors). As well as the fire, the property is centrally heated throughout so is ideal for spring and winter lets.
The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Plenty of crockery and cutlery and all the extras a keen cook may need. The owners leave games, toys and an interesting selection of books for guests to enjoy, making this very much a home from home. There is also a large DVD library and a plug for i-pods, connected to the stereo system. Double doors lead onto the shaded terrace with a barbecue, and al fresco dining area. A corridor from the kitchen leads to the bedroom, which has a double bed and two single beds, a wood burning stove and a double door leading onto the terrace. This bedroom only sleeps two. There is also a bathroom on this floor with a bath/shower.
Stairs lead up to the landing on which there is a separate WC. Upstairs the master bedroom has stunning views, a double bed and a bed for the under fives (upon request). An electric blanket is available (upon request) in the winter months. There is an ensuite bathroom, fitted with double sinks, bath/shower, bidet and an electric towel rail.
There is a Spanish mobile phone available for guests, please ask for the number. The fixed line telephone can be used, details will be in the house-book.
This property has a non smoking policy indoors.
Outside Facilities
Next to the main house is the original bread oven and beyond that is a charming small stone house. This has a small double bed and is an ideal spot for a siesta.
The beautiful large pool, with a depths of 1.4 – 2.7 metres, has been cleverly terraced to provide both natural shade and full sun all day long. The pool measures 12.5 x 5 metres and is fitted with underwater lighting, a great feature for all ages.
There are plenty of deck chairs and patio furniture around the pool, as well as two hammocks strung between two olive trees.
There is also a further terrace with a Table Tennis table.
The tennis courts in Gaucin are free and available on a first come first served basis. Tennis rackets are provided, albeit not to Nadal’s standards!
There are a couple of acres of private countryside to roam in, with rock formations, rugged terraces and even a variety of trees to climb. A natural adventure playground for children of all ages.
Please note that the one kilometre track to the house is quite steep in places, and a 4WD vehicle is recommended during the winter & spring months.
Local Area
Finca de la Fuente makes an ideal base for day trips to the beautiful cities of Ronda, Jerez, Cadiz, Seville and the Atlantic Coast. All of these cities have much historical and architectural interest as well as having fabulous shopping and fine restaurants. Ronda has a famous gorge and also has the oldest Bullring in Spain.
Gaucin is a spectacular, unspoilt white village with many food shops, a chemist, bank, bars, four restaurants and a public tennis court. Throughout the year Gaucin has many fascinating fiestas, traditional Saint days and the ‘Semana-Santa’, their holy week, processions. In August Gaucin celebrates its ‘Feria’ with a fairground, dancing, a flamenco festival and their very own bull-fights.
Overlooking the village are the ruins of a Moorish castle, which has incomparable views over to the Mediterranean Coast, North Africa and Gibraltar. This area is a paradise for walking, exploring, horse-riding and bird watching. A few kilometres down the valley is the river Genal, and this is a good spot for fishing, swimming, and exploring.
The Mediterranean beaches are about a thirty minute drive away, while the Atlantic coast, with its fine white sand and famous wind surfing is one and a half hours drive away.
