This is a really lovely and very large farmhouse, situated in open countryside above Malaga in Andalucia, Southern Spain. The property has been restored to create an excellent holiday villa situated in 85 acres of private land, on which there are olive, carob and almond groves, so is ideal for those looking for seclusion, peace and quiet. Set amidst hills and valleys, the house has wonderful views to the mountains and from the pool terrace to Malaga city and the sea.
This is a very large (420 sq metres of living space) traditional farmhouse, full of character and charm. It is now very comfortably furnished, in rustic style, as a family home. Forming part of the main building is the original olive mill with its stones and press intact.
The drive up to the house is an unmade road and is fairly steep, so we recommend, that clients hire a four-wheel drive vehicle in the months between October – April.
Accommodation Details
On the ground floor there is an entrance hall and central patio with wood burning stove, spacious sitting room (4m x 10m) with open fireplace. On this floor there is also a twin bedroom, bathroom and the laundry/store room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The large kitchen (3.5m x 10m) has a traditional style fireplace and is fully equipped with microwave and dishwasher.
The former olive mill is equipped with stereo, table-tennis and some games. It is ideal for use as a ‘Fun Room’.
On the first floor there are 4 double bedrooms, 3 of which have ensuite bathrooms. In addition there is a small baby’s bedroom adjacent to the master bedroom.
Up a flight of steps behind the house is the large swimming pool. (8m x 12m). By the pool is a cottage equipped as a studio, with twin beds, a kitchen area (fridge, cooking range etc.) and bathroom – ideal for a couple of teenagers.
For winter holidays there are fireplaces in the kitchen and sitting room and a wood burning stove on the patio. All bedrooms have either gas or electric heaters and there are electric blankets for the four upstairs rooms, should they be required. All wood is cut and stacked in the woodshed by the kitchen door and is free of additional charge, as is gas and electricity.
Outside Facilities
The house has many shaded terraces, with a built-in BBQ and two large pergolas providing outdoor dining areas, furnished with hardwood dining table and chairs for al-fresco eating.
The large pool is situated above and behind the house and has wonderful views from the pool terrace.
Local Area
The property is very rural and is an ideal spot for walks and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful countryside. There is a small local shop just 1 km from the finca entrance and seven “ventas” (bars/restaurants) within 2 kms. In spite of its rural location the estate is only a few minutes from a large modern shopping mall (hypermarket, 12 screen cinema etc.) and about a 15 minute drive from the city of Malaga, with its beautiful unspoilt old town, huge range of shops, bars, restaurants, and the new Picasso museum.
Again, it is only 20 minute drive to the coast and there are many beaches along this coast worth visiting. All types of watersports are on offer.
The nearest golf course is 20 kms from the property. Along the coast there are approximately 25 courses within an hour’s drive.
